Empty nesters

On Saturday morning while I was out in the front yard I noticed that our new tenants were conspicuously absent.

Then I saw two crushed robin’s egg blue eggshells on our front steps.

It seems the harsher part of the circle of life has taken its course and mother bird has abandoned ship nest.

Luckily Harrison didn’t grow too attached the “bat” (bird) at the front of the house. I’ll admit that I had, though.

  1. Ugggh this happened to a robin our backyard last year! I am still terrified that the babies got eaten by a raccoon. So sad!! Nature can be so cruel.
