Gift Guide: Little Kids & Babies

Little things for little ones.

Of course I’m going to start with a book again. Because young or old it truly is a great gift. My preschooler loves anything to do with the alphabet and one of the things on his list for Santa this year is a “A Book I Can Read All By Myself”. The alphabet is a great place to start to “read” on his own. If you’re Canadian or a hockey fan, Z (pronounced Zed) is for Zamboni is a good choice. (1. Z is for Zamboni, Indigo $7.59) And in keeping with winter is this cute little toy/stocking stuffer/what-are-we-going-to-do-today? time filler that is sure to delight the budding artist. (2. Sno Marker, Indigo $6.95)

Personally I love giving and receiving cute outfits. Especially when it’s something that’s a bit of a splurge, or a bit of a holiday specific item. I mean, I’m realistic. I have boys so I’m a bit reluctant to buy anything too nice that they won’t wear a lot, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want them to look dapper. I’m sure girls are the same. So gifts like this one-piece or tartan dress are a winner in my book. (3. Lined Plaid One-Piece, Gap $34.95 4. Plaid Dress, Gap $39.95)

I love a personalized gift, and what a cute idea to personalize a delivery sack for your child. I think this would be a great idea if you’re travelling and Santa has to deliver presents to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. You could pack the toys into the sack and show your little one that Santa knows just where to deliver gifts. It’s no coincidence I chose the “Harry” one. (Personalized Christmas Sack, $33.17 USD)

Who doesn’t love the red, eternally 3 year-old muppet, Elmo? He’s apparently a pretty “hot” gift this year. (6. Big Hugs Elmo, Walmart $39.94)

A great gift for your little monkeys when you’re on the move. (Skip Hop Zoo Straw Bottle, Snuggle Bugz $7.19)

And all I can say about this product is that it’s genius. No more string through the coat, just clip mittens to the coat! (8. Snug as a Bug Double Ended Mitt Clips, Snuggle Bugz $4.99)

Babies and their feet. They just can’t resist them. That’s why you need shoes and boots that stay on. Robeez always delivers on quality and cute designs like these. (9. Caroline Mini Shoez, Robeez $36)

If you’re making long car trips this holiday season you may want to keep your toddler or little kid occupied. This tray is perfect for colouring and keeping toys within reach, not to mention corralling crumbs from on-the-go snacks. (Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray, Snuggle Bugz $21.99)

I love all the Mamas and Papas toys, but I could only pick one so this little bug was the winner this time. Bright colours and soft shapes to delight your little one. (Babyplay Travel Charm Bugs, Babies R Us $13.57)

And finally, one last gift to make the very special kids on your list feel just that! Choose everything from hair style to eye shape and personalize it with their name. (Personalized Children’s Plate, Sarah + Abraham $27)
