Weekend recap

Well, I had this post half-written for yesterday, but the day got away from me. (Why do kids not like to sleep?) So this weekend wrap-up is a day late and that doesn’t make sense, but you didn’t really come here for a blog that makes sense so here we go.

Our weekend didn’t go exactly as we had planned, but it was a good one nonetheless.

I got to check out Harrison’s swimming lesson for the first time this session. He’s doing so great (and I even told his instructor that he is holding him back. Tiger Mom!) The most important part is that Harrison loves the water, though, and he certainly does.

We got hit with another big snow storm. We were supposed to head to London to celebrate my sister in-law’s birthday, but the weather thwarted those plans. We didn’t even get as far as the highway before we decided that we should turn back. Roland shovelled twice and then had to get out the snowblower on Sunday morning.

That’s a tree, not a shrub.

As I mentioned, I followed along with Apartment Therapy’s January Cure. It was awesome. A great motivational tool that kept me on track and loving my home for the whole month of January, though some days I was cursing that I didn’t have an apartment-sized task but a house-sized assignment. On the weekends part of the assignments was to buy yourself some flowers. I only bought flowers (these tulips) on the final weekend as a way to treat myself to a job and a month well done. Which reminds me, I have some play room photos to show you later this week!

On Sunday we were nursing a sick kiddo who came down with the flu. He was a great little patient, though. After a little morning snack and a bath he curled up on this chair in the basement by the fire with his iPad and then he fell asleep. So sad, but so cute when they’re sick. As a result we cancelled our annual Super Bowl party. It was kind strange but really nice to have an empty house for Super Bowl Sunday. I got to watch the game, and didn’t have a ton of dishes to clean up!

Foster's catch

Foster's three point stance

Foster was ready for the game, though. Wearing his “Number One Draft Pick” shirt and then practising his three-point stance and hoarding all the footballs!

And since potluck was no longer on the menu we made our own pizzas at home. Who needs take out?! Mmm!

Amazingly we are supposed to get hit with another storm between tonight and tomorrow. The weatherman is forecasting a possible 15 cms (6 inches)! We’re running out of room to put the snow. Hope your week is off to a great start!

  1. Sounds like a good month Heather, except for Harry’s not feeling well. But you got to be together and watch the game. Glad to hear Harrison got the” happy in the water” genes. love gram
